I think that the speed settings for this (and the DOF) is ideal as the slight blur of the wings brings the movement of the bird to the fore whilst freezing the rest of the subject. The perfect focus of the bird against the out of focus background makes for great sense of depth which really makes me feel as if I was witnessing this bird taking flight. The trail of water droplets also helps to make this a dynamic image. I suppose some might argue that the branch in the lower foreground might be irritating, but this is a wild life shot - nature is not perfect and this would just be being picky! So I guess technique is perfect, impact is 100% and vision superb. Although, it might be said that it is not that original in concept - however, this type of capture is bit like the holy grail of bird photography.
